A full kitchen remodel with a licensed contractor in Tampa Bay costs $15,000 to $80,000 or more, depending on size and whether the layout changes, and takes 5 to 6 weeks on site, or 10 to 14 weeks from signed contract to finished kitchen. CraftLine Remodeling is a licensed design build contractor (CBC1269114) with offices in South Tampa and St. Petersburg. We design the kitchen, pull the permits and build it with one crew under one contract.

If you searched for a kitchen remodel contractor near you, the useful questions are simple: what will it cost, how long will my kitchen be out of commission, and who is actually doing the work. This page answers all three with our own numbers.

What a Kitchen Remodel Costs in Tampa Bay

These ranges come from our own Tampa Bay kitchen cost guide and include design, permits, demolition, labor and installation. Appliances are priced separately because homeowners often keep or buy their own.

Kitchen size and scopeTypical investmentWhat it usually covers
Small or galley kitchen, same layout$15,000 to $25,000New cabinets on the existing footprint, quartz or granite tops, backsplash, sink and faucet, lighting
Mid size kitchen, full remodel$25,000 to $45,000Semi custom cabinets, new flooring, relocated outlets and lighting, an island or peninsula, full tile backsplash
Large kitchen or layout change$45,000 to $80,000+Wall removal or reframing, plumbing and gas moves, custom cabinetry, larger islands, upgraded electrical service to the kitchen

Two things push a Tampa job toward the top of its range more than anything else: moving the sink or range to a new wall on a slab foundation, and taking out a wall that turns out to be load bearing. Both are priced in writing before you sign, not discovered halfway through. Kitchens in this market return roughly 75 to 85 percent of their cost at resale, which is one reason they lead most remodeling budgets here.

How Long It Takes, Start to Finish

StageTypical time
Design, selections and written priceBefore anything is ordered
Permit review, Hillsborough County10 to 30 days
Permit review, City of St. Petersburg3 to 5 weeks
Construction on site5 to 6 weeks
Total, contract to finished kitchen10 to 14 weeks

Permit fees run about $500 to $1,100 in Hillsborough and $550 to $1,200 in Pinellas for a typical kitchen. They are in our price, and the permit is pulled in our name, not yours.

The Order We Work In

We price the job, you sign, and then demolition starts. Nobody opens a wall in a house they do not have a contract for. What happens after demo is where a design build contractor earns the fee.

Every kitchen we remodel goes back to the studs. While the walls and floor are open we inspect the supply lines, the drain and vent, the framing, the subfloor and any wiring in the walls. If we find something, you get a photo and a plain explanation, and nothing gets closed up until you approve it. Once the cabinets and tile go back in, nobody looks at any of that again for thirty years.

Kitchens We Remodel Near You, and What We Find in Them

Tampa Bay housing stock is not one thing, and the kitchen behind your cabinets depends a lot on when your house was built.

  • South Tampa, Hyde Park and Seminole Heights. Many are 1920s bungalows with small, closed kitchens, plaster walls and original galvanized supply lines. Cast iron drains are common in anything built before 1970. We usually replace both while the room is open. See our Tampa kitchen remodeling page for neighborhood detail.
  • Carrollwood and Town ‘n’ Country. Mostly 1970s and early 1980s concrete block ranches on slab, often with soffits above the upper cabinets and a boxed fluorescent ceiling. Taking the soffits out and running cabinets to the ceiling is one of the best value changes in these homes. More on our Carrollwood kitchen page.
  • Westchase and New Tampa. 1990s and 2000s builds with builder grade oak or thermofoil cabinets. The plumbing is usually fine, so budgets go into cabinetry, islands and lighting instead of the walls.
  • St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Largo. A mix of 1920s bungalows in neighborhoods like Old Northeast and Kenwood and 1950s to 1960s block homes further out. Pinellas permits take longer, so we start that paperwork the week you sign.

Kitchen Remodel FAQ

How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Tampa?

Most full kitchen remodels we build land between $25,000 and $45,000. Small kitchens on the same layout start around $15,000, and large kitchens with wall removal or plumbing moves run $45,000 to $80,000 or more.

How long will I be without a kitchen?

About 5 to 6 weeks of construction. The design and permit time before that happens while you are still cooking in your old kitchen. We give you the construction schedule in writing before demo day so you can plan around it.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel?

Yes, once plumbing, electrical or walls are involved, and in a real remodel they almost always are. We pull the permit, pay the fee as part of your price and meet the inspectors.

Do you remodel kitchens in my part of Tampa Bay?

We work across Hillsborough and Pinellas from our South Tampa office at 306 E Tyler St and our St. Pete office at 5741 9th Ave N. The full list is on our service areas page.

Can you also remodel the bathroom at the same time?

Yes. Running both under one permit and one crew usually saves time. See our Tampa bathroom remodeling page.
